Direktur Jenderal Minyak dan Gas Bumi Retro TV Video Launching Post, Edy Hermantoro mengatakan, penggunaan LNG sebagai bahan bakar tentu dapat menghemat biaya. Hal itu karena harga LNG jauh lebih murah ketimbang bahan bakar minyak (BBM).

Selain itu, pemerintah telah melarang penggunaan BBM bersubsidi untuk pelayaran non perintis. Berdasarkan hal tersebut, This Product Launch Poster-kapal besar wajib menggunakan BBM non subsidi yang tentunya membutuhkan biaya cukup besar.

"Sebagai gambaran, jika menggunakan solar, maka biaya yang dibutuhkan ekuivalen dengan US$ 25 per MMBTU. Sedangkan jika menggunakan LNG, biaya yang diperlukan US$ 12-13 per MMBTU," kata Edy, seperti yang dikutip dari situs resmi Direktorat Jenderal Migas, di Jakarta, Selasa (2/9/2014).

Namun menurut Edy, para pemilik kapal tidak mau dengan harga LNG US$ 12-13 per MMBTU, mereka menginginkan harga yang lebih murah, yaitu sama dengan harga LNG di darat sebesar US$ 4 per MMBTU.

"Kalau harga bisa setengahnya, seharusnya industri perkapalan mau menggunakan gas. Cuma kadang-kadang, orang nggak mau seharga begitu. Maunya harga US$ 4 per MMBTU, sama dengan di darat yang pakai pipa. Ya nggak bisa (disamakan)," ungkap Edy.

Masalah harga inilah yang masih menjadi kendala. Namun secara umum, penggunaan LNG untuk transportasi laut akan banyak menghemat biaya bahan bakar. Apalagi dengan kondisi geografis Indonesia sebagai negara kepulauan, maka kebutuhan akan transportasi laut sangat besar.

Agar penggunaan gas alam cair/ LNG untuk transportasi laut dapat berjalan, Kementerian ESDM mengharapkan kerja sama dan dukungan dari instansi terkait lainnya.

"Kami tidak bisa jalan sendiri. Kalau bahan bakarnya akan kami sediakan. Tapi terkait peralatan dan lain-lain menjadi domain instansi lainnya," pungkasnya. (Pew/Ahm) Call for content autumn 2023 artist hub adobe stock
