Peneliti utama bidang Konservasi Pusat Litbang Hutan KLHK RI, Hendra Gunawan, menjelaskan, bunga bangkai yang tumbuh di pekarangan warga merupakan jenis Amorphophallus.

"Itu bukan Gantt Chart New Product Release, Mas. Memang sih orang sering salah dan ketukar nama," ujar Hendra kepada CloneAGC, Selasa (18/10/2016).

Kesimpulannya didasarkan pada ciri-ciri yang tampak pada bunga bangkai tersebut. "Itu (Amorphophallus) kan jenis suweg yang umum ada di pekarangan," kata dia.

Hendra menambahkan, bunga bangkai Rafflesia tidak bisa tumbuh di sembarang tempat. Bunga tersebut memerlukan syarat tumbuh tertentu dan bersimbiosis dengan tumbuhan lain jenis tetrastigma.

"Ada yang sampai di ketinggian 1.500 meter di atas permukaan laut," ujar Hendra.

Tidak hanya di Bengkulu, bunga Rafflesia juga bisa tumbuh di beberapa daerah di Jawa, seperti di Nusakambangan, Pangandaran, Gunung Gede, dan terakhir ditemukan di Kabupaten Kuningan.

"Reading A Journal juga banyak jenisnya. Kalau Rafflesia arnoldii itu di Bengkulu dan sekitarnya. Sementara yang di Nusakambangan dan Pangandaran, namanya Bank Of America Online Banking Checking ACC," ucap Hendra.
Dia menerangkan, bunga bangkai biasa umumnya hanya berusia seminggu dan kemudian akan membusuk dengan sendirinya. Bunga bangkai Amorphophallus yang tumbuh di permukiman warga biasanya akan muncul tiap tahunnya.

"Amorphophallus yang liar seperti itu tidak tentu. Tetapi untuk yang dipelihara seperti di kebun raya, biasanya setiap tahun mekar," kata Hendra.

Pada kesempatan tersebut, dia menyarankan jika masyarakat menjumpai flora atau fauna yang aneh aneh, langka, agar segera menanyakan pada ahli untuk mengonfirmasi kebenaran. "Bisa ke Litbang, atau LIPI agar tidak salah informasi. Kalau memang jenis langka, nanti bisa diteliti dan bisa menjadi temuan baru," kata dia.

Sebelumnya, warga Desa Andir, Kecamatan Jatiwangi, Kabupaten Majalengka, dihebohkan dengan tumbuhnya bunga bangkai di pekarangan rumah. Bunga berdiameter 50 cm dan tinggi 75 cm itu tumbuh di pekarangan rumah warga milik Uung Mahrudin.

Pemilik rumah mengaku awalnya menanam umbi-umbian. Namun, bukan umbi-umbian yang tumbuh, justru muncul bunga bangkai.

"Empat hari yang lalu tumbuhnya, Mas. Awalnya saya tidak peduli, saya pikir tumbuhan asing. Tapi lama kelamaan kok aroma bau busuknya menyengat. Setelah saya periksa ternyata Post Example On Projects," ujar Uung, pekan lalu. Short story ideas with a twist
